About Me

I’m a Google Qualified, digital marketing specialist & digital creative director. Optimising brands and business for better online performance

I have more than ten years’ entrepreneurial experience at board level, leading creative organisations through periods of change and growth. During this time, I’ve navigated M&As, buy-outs and even filed patents and trademarks in my name.

The last ten years have been a thrill. I’ve woken early every day to embrace new challenges and opportunities including:

2004 Universal Pixel Limited:  As founder and Creative Director of Universal Pixel, I pitched, won and retained several high-profile clients, including Microsoft, the Design Council and the BBC. In five years, the company grew to include more than 12 members of staff.
2009 EasyProBlinds, After feasibility testing and recognising a gap in online learning, I built a world-leading eLearning platform to meet the growing appetite for knowledge in making Roman blinds. Having trademarked the brand in 2010, I went on to design and build a fully functioning, members-based community, complete with an eCommerce store with supporting products. Sales and leads are generated through a comprehensive multi-channel marketing plan, which includes social media, paid media and affiliate networks. In year one of trading, we achieved more than 3,000 individual sales worldwide, to become the top-ranked training resource for handmade-window treatments.
2009 Pull Digital Limited: Having sold my stake in Universal Pixel, I co-founded Pull Digital, where I was Digital Creative Director; I was also responsible for the agency’s internal culture and resourcing. I developed several staff-retention programmes and formed many external relationships for intelligent outsourcing. As equal owner, I also helped develop the three key accounts, bringing in nearly two-thirds of the company’s overall business. In 2013, with nearly 20 staff, I sold my shares to fund further education in digital strategy and pursue other business interests.
2010 Popuphouse
Working closely with one of the UK’s biggest recycled-cardboard manufacturers, Kite Packaging Limited, I developed a new business model for marketing a British-made recycled playhouse for children. Using social-measurement tools, I developed the brand name, messaging and design to position the product in line with audience needs. I went on to design and build a simple website using the drop-shipping model, with Kite Packaging’s secure checkout and warehouse infrastructure. Sales were generated through a sophisticated digital-marketing plan, with world-class social-media strategy and affiliate networking; no capital was used in advertising. Success was swift, and, in 2011, I opened three global-distribution centres, shipping palettes of up to 250 products abroad, as far as Western Europe, Kenya and South America.
2013 Google Degree: I graduated from Google’s Digital Marketing Leadership programme and was nominated one of five ‘most inspirational’ students from a class of 220 professionals.
2014 Usable Media:  I set up Usable Media to bring together creative and digital talent in a central office, equipped with all the latest agency ‘skills’, and none of the limitations of traditional agencies. The enterprise – best described as an ‘unagency’ – is made up of a group of leading consultants, in everything from branding and web design to SEO and copywriting. We each share the burden of running costs and collaborate to offer a leaner model. It also makes us more agile and scalable to meet different size and shape projects.
It’s a completely innovative culture. Together, we’ve won some exciting accounts for my teams and received fantastic feedback and reviews for our hard work.
